Triple-A: Nashville Sounds (MIL) 6, Norfolk Tides 2
Even an 0-for-4 line in the box score is good to see when it means that Jackson Holliday is continuing to have a successful rehab from his hamate bone injury. That being said, this game was a dud for the Tides, who fell into a 1-0 hole behind starter Levi Wells and couldn’t mount a response.
Tides starter Wells hit the first batter of the game, allowed a stolen base, a single, another steal, and a run, all in the first inning, and still managed to have a pretty decent start. The Orioles’ 2023 fourth-rounder
completed three more good innings on 78 pitches (46 strikes) for a final line of 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K. His relief, Chayce McDermott, has already had a tough 2026 season in Orioles spring training. On Sunday, McDermott threw just one inning, managing to hit a batter, walk two, and allow a two-run double. Tides shortstop Willy Vasquez threw a runner out at home, or else it would have been three Nashville runs on McDermott’s name in one inning. Finally, Cameron Weston ended up pitching four innings, and like Wells, his first was his worst, as three runs came home in the sixth inning. But he settled down to throw four total.
Either way, the offense was mostly MIA. Norfolk scored once in the fifth when catcher Silas Ardoin hit a triple and scored on a wild pitch. They’d scored once more on a Ryan Noda pinch-hit double, a walk, and a Jud Fabian groundout.
First baseman Creed Willems went 2-for-3 with a walk. Noda’s double and Ardoin’s triple were the Tides’ only other hits. Willems, Ardoin and Fabian all walked once.
