Reports continue to come out about Bayern Munich’s easy talks with Harry Kane about a new contract and how quickly talks seem to be wrapping up. The latest update sees Kane and Bayern reportedly on the verge of an agreement.
It should come as welcome news to Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany that his star striker looks set to stay longer, but the Belgian has never been one to count his chickens before they hatch. Interview by Sky Sport DE, Kompany was asked about the recent reports and sidestepped
the topic:
“I’m always respectful of the situation between the player, the agent and the club,” Kompany replied instead (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “My responsibility in all of this is simply to make sure that Harry feels comfortable here, that he performs on the pitch, or at least that he has the environment and the surroundings that allow him to do that. Usually, when that is in place, the other things tend to become a little bit easier as well.”
No player wants to stay where they are not happy, so of course Kompany and his extremely personable nature contribute to the desire of Bayern’s players to remain where they are. But Kompany also knows what his job does not encompass. That kind of clarity over job distribution is a boon to the club.
