The New York Giants will be without two starting cornerbacks and perhaps two more offensive starters on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
Starting cornerbacks Paulson Adebo (knee) and Cor’Dale Flott (concussion) have been ruled out for the Week 9 contest.
Reserve cornerback Art Green (hamstring) and defensive lineman Chauncey Golston (neck) have also been ruled out.
The healthy cornerbacks on the roster are:
Deonte Banks, Dru Phillips, Jarrick Bernard-Converse (claimed this week on waivers), Korie
Black (signed off the New York Jets practice squad last week) and Nic Jones. Rico Payton, on IR all season with a groin injury, is listed as questionable. To activate Payton, the Giants would have to remove someone else from the 53-man roster.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Giants may also have issues.
New York is, of course, without wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo for the rest of the season. Right tackle Jermaine Eleumunor (pectoral) and tight end Daniel Bellinger (neck) are listed as doubtful.
If Eluemunor can’t play, rookie Marcus Mbow would likely start at right tackle. James Hudson would then become the swing tackle.
Bellinger has seen his role on offense increase in recent weeks. Eight of his 11 receptions this season have come since Week 5, and the last four games have seen Bellinger play his largest share of snaps this season. If Bellinger can’t play, rookie Thomas Fidone could see more action. Fidone, a seventh-round pick, has played just three offensive snaps.
