During a recent airing of SmackDown in Japan, several matches were announced for WWE’s two-show stay at Tokyo’s Ryōgoku Kokugikan next month. The trip will be WWE’s second to Japan in two years, a return
to normal that follows five years without a visit to the island nation.
Even as international tours become routine under TKO, WWE is still doing it up for their Japanese fans in 2025.
Shinsuke Nakamura’s been spotted lurking around backstage on Friday nights lately, but the New Japan legend and Royal Rumble winner hasn’t wrestled for WWE in more than three months. He was advertised for the Oct. 17-18 Tokyo Supershows, so we knew he’d be back for these, but this is the first we’d heard about what he’d be doing.
In true Japanese house show fashion, Nak will be in tag matches both nights. Some of his partners on Saturday the 18th have a big singles match on Friday the 17th though. And there will be great matches featuring women Japanese fans know well on both shows.
Here’s what was advertised…
Fri., Oct. 17
- Seth Rollins (c) vs. CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight championship
- Giulia (c) vs. IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley for the Women’s United States title
- Shinsuke Nakamura & Jey Uso vs. The Vision (Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed)
Sat., Oct. 18
- CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura & Jey Uso vs. The Vision (Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed)
- Kairi Sane vs. Giulia
- IYO SKY & Rhea Ripley vs. The Judgment Day (Roxanne! Perez & Raquel Rodriguez)
Seems like a good start for WWE-hungry Japanese fans, no?
