The Dodgers continue their series against the Giants on Friday night at Dodger Stadium, with Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the final time in the regular season at home. The left-hander on Thursday announced his plans to retire after the season.
Kershaw is making the 450th start of his career, the 88th player in major league history to start that many games. Friday is his 61st start against the Giants, against whom he has a 2.08 ERA in 407 1/3 innings. His two starts against them this year have
run the gamut, with seven scoreless innings in Los Angeles on June 14, and allowing four runs in three innings last Saturday in San Francisco.
Left-hander Robbie Ray starts for the Giants. He’s had a similar experience in this rivalry this season, giving up two runs in six innings against the Dodgers on July 13, then allowed five runs in four innings last Sunday. Both of those starts were in San Francisco.
This is the fourth and final game this season for the Dodgers on Apple TV+. This is an exclusive broadcast — so no local telecast on SportsNet LA — with Wayne Randazzo on the call alongside Dontrelle Willis, with reporter Heidi Watney also on the broadcast. In the Dodgers’ other Friday night Apple TV+ games this season, they lost to the Phillies on April 4, then beat the Mets and Yankees on consecutive Fridays at the end of May.
