What can Harry Kane not do? Of course, the media, the fans, and Bayern Munich knew what Kane could generally do when he made the move to Munich. He had been dropping deep to help facilitate Tottenham Hotspur’s build-up play for years while maintaining a ridiculously high level as a striker. But even the most ardent scout must be surprised at the total package of a player Kane has ended up being. He is still most known for his goals at Bayern, but not far behind are the slide tackles he puts in to stop
an opposition attack in the final 10 minutes (of which there have been many) and the ridiculous playmaking skills on display throughout.
Will these skills result in a Ballon d’Or win? Ahead of Monday’s ceremony and Sunday’s match against SC Freiburg, Bayern coach Aaron Danks was asked about Kane and did not hold back his praise: “I’m really biased when it comes to Harry because I’m an Englishman,” Danks admitted (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), before returning to praising the team’s star striker. “It’s a privilege to work with Harry and see his level every day. His overall game is at such a high level that he could also be our best defender and our best playmaker in training; he can score goals. I learn a lot from working with him. The level here at Bayern Munich is very high.”
Bayern is one of the bookies’ favorites to win the Champions League and has put together a strong squad. That Danks believes he could still be Bayern’s best defender and playmaker in this top-class squad is praise of the highest order.
