Has your professional team’s season already ended? Or do you simply not have a team? Still going to watch the NFL Playoffs and need help figuring out which team to get behind? The Only Colors is here to help.
We looked at the eight remaining teams and compiled a list of all Michigan State players on each team’s roster. This was done by looking at ESPN.com. Please note that this only considers the last school a player was at prior to coming to the NFL. For example, while Keon Coleman did play for MSU,
his listed school is FSU; thus, he does not count in this conversation.
Of the eight teams, five have a former Michigan State player on the active roster. A sixth team has a Spartan on the practice squad, while two of the teams don’t have any MSU guys – not on the active roster, IR, or practice squad. Sadly, not a single one of these teams has more than one Spartan on the active roster. Here is the data from the eight rosters.
AFC
Buffalo Bills – None
Denver Broncos – Jordan Turner, LB
Houston Texans – Naquan Jones, DT; Ameer Speed, CB (Practice Squad)
New England Patriots – Bryce Baringer, P
NFC
Chicago Bears – Luke Newman, OT
Los Angeles Rams – AJ Arcuri, OT (Practice Squad)
San Francisco 49ers – None
Seattle Seahawks – Kenneth Walker III, RB; Cody White, WR (IR); Montorie Foster, WR (Practice Squad)
So who should you be cheering for? Well, Buffalo and SF are out, and you can kick out LA as well for only having the one practice squad player.
Are you a special teams junkie? Then go for New England with Bryce Baringer.
Want to cheer for someone who played under Mark Dantonio? Then go with Houston and Naquan Jones.
Want to see a Spartan win a Super Bowl as a rookie? Then it’s Chicago and Luke Newman or Denver and Jordan Turner for you.
Or, do you want to see the guy that is responsible for MSU’s last great season raise the Lombardi Trophy? Hopefully most of you fall in this category and are on the Seattle bandwagon which is being pulled by Kenneth Walker III.
Let us know which side you are on in the comments.
