Barcelona great Lionel Messi has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to buy Spanish Second Division side Eldense.
Messi is now expected to acquire 100% of the club’s shares shortly and an official announcement could even be made in the coming days, per Diario AS.
The report adds that Messi’s legal team have been in talks with the Colombian investment group TH, headed by Juan Carlos Trujillo, which acquired the shares from Pascual Pérez a year ago.
The deal will then be subject to due diligence and
will require authorization from the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) before it can be officially completed.
However, it seems that Messi could be about to become the majority shareholder of the team as he looks to a future after his playing days are over.
Messi has already taken a stake in Cornella, who currently play in the third tier, but now seems to have his sights set on the Segunda Division.
