Sometimes, things just don’t work out, and you have to move on. That’s the case with Jaland Lowe and the Kentucky Wildcats. Lowe is entering the transfer portal after just one season with the Cats, in which he played just nine games due to a nagging shoulder injury originally sustained in the Blue White Game in October.
Jaland’s father, Marland, recently expanded upon his son’s decision to enter the portal.
“The University of Kentucky and BBN welcomed Jaland,” Marland said. “He showed his desire and willingness
to play for Kentucky basketball and its fans even through three shoulder separations and a shift.
“As a parent, of course, one would have wanted their child to shut it down, but we expect mental and physical toughness from our sons. He showed what is instilled within him. The effort was clear. We are proud of him.
“We are thankful to Kentucky basketball for the opportunity. Kentucky fans are incredible.”
Lowe showed why he was brought to Kentucky in the nine games he played, especially against St. John’s. He re-injured his shoulder in that game but returned in the second half and delivered a gutsy performance on both ends of the floor in a signature way for the Cats this season.
In nine games, Lowe averaged eight points per game and played an average of 18.5 minutes.
