As the New England Patriots began work on the Miami Dolphins, so did Ben Brown.
The starting right guard returned for Wednesday’s practice after missing one week and one game because of a knee injury. Also more than present was starting cornerback Carlton Davis III, who had been limited before being ruled out for a third consecutive matchup due to a neck injury stemming from September.
That left no absences for the 53-man roster in Foxborough.
Here’s the first injury report ahead of Sunday’s 4:25 p.m.
ET kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- No players listed
Dolphins
- OT Kadyn Proctor (concussion)
- CB JuJu Brents (neck, concussion)
Every member of the Patriots’ active roster was on hand for Wednesday’s practice coming out of the mini bye. For the 2025 AFC East winners, that hadn’t been the case on any injury report since the start of the regular season.
However, the list of non-participants in Miami Gardens would include two players who entered the NFL’s concussion protocol following the Dolphins’ first win of the campaign.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- WR A.J. Brown (knee, ankle)
- OT Morgan Moses (foot)
- G Ben Brown (knee)
- DT DaQuan Jones (back)
Dolphins
- WR Malik Washington (knee)
- WR Jared Wayne (knee)
- TE Greg Dulcich (ankle)
- TE Will Kacmarek (hamstring)
- CB Reese Taylor (quad)
- S Michael Taaffe (neck, foot)
- S Dante Trader Jr. (shoulder)
- LS Tucker Addington (shoulder)
Among four practicing in a limited capacity — along with a Pro Bowl wide receiver sharing the same last name — Ben Brown had been ruled out during what became a 26-19 win over the New York Jets and was listed as a non-participant leading up to what became a 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears. And with a hamstring injury sending fellow interior starter Alijah Vera-Tucker to injured reserve prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, August trade acquisition Walter Rouse and October signing Matt Pryor stayed in next to center Jared Wilson at Soldier Field.
There’s more options to sort through now for an offensive line that has conceded a total of two sacks over the past two games.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- QB Drake Maye (right shoulder)
- OT Marcus Bryant (ankle — IR return
- LB Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder)
- LB Christian Elliss (chest)
- CB Carlton Davis III (neck)
- CB Channing Canada (hamstring)
- CB Karon Prunty (hamstring)
- S Kevin Byard III (chest)
Dolphins
- QB Malik Willis (groin)
- RB Jaylen Wright (foot, quad)
- DE Robert Beal Jr. (hamstring)
Head coach Mike Vrabel’s quarter of the division listed eight full participants. Count the eldest statesman on the cornerback depth chart among them. No. 7 hasn’t dressed for a game since handling all 59 defensive downs during the 29-26 upset of the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.
“Not trying to rush the process, but really trying to be efficient at recovering and being able to get back out there and be a guy that my team can depend on,” Davis told reporters of his three-game absence on Wednesday. “I think the worst is just sitting on the sideline watching plays being made or being a bystander. Last year I played in every game, so this year I was looking to do the same. A bit disappointing not being able to do that, but I’m back here and I’m ready to go.”
The Patriots had also been missing a pair of rookie corners in recent weeks because of hamstring injuries. But the position remains seven deep, while a sophomore swing tackle’s 21-day activation window remains open.
