The Brewers have some familiar faces returning for tonight’s action against the Texas Rangers, the second game in their series.
Making the start after being recalled from Triple-A, Chad Patrick will make his 22nd appearance for Milwaukee. Across 105 innings at the major league level, he has a 3.60 ERA. His last start came on August 24, a 5 1/3 inning performance against the San Francisco Giants in which he surrendered two earned runs while tallying seven strikeouts.
Texas sends out Jack Leiter who
has been a terrific example of a young player taking a leap in his production. Leiter had a 4.40 ERA after his June 17 start. Since then, he’s made 13 starts with a 3.12 ERA, including an impressive 10.45 K/9. In this most recent run of form, Leiter has allowed less hard contact, more fly balls, and hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in any of his starts.
In the lineup, Brice Turang bats leadoff, joined in the infield by Caleb Durbin, Joey Ortiz, and Andrew Vaughn. William Contreras starts at catcher with Christian Yelich taking designated hitter.
Jackson Chourio will command the outfield out in center, flanked by Isaac Collins and Sal Frelick.
Milwaukee made some roster transactions outside of recalling Patrick. With his arrival, RHP Carlos Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A. First baseman Rhys Hoskins also returns to the team after being reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Anthony Seigler was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding move. Seigler has a .194 batting average in the majors this year.
Today’s game will be broadcast via FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
