Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about college football. Because it’s here!
As you’re well aware if you stick with us through the long summer months… well, the summer months are long. And they are dry. As a bone, some might say. As Milhouse’s cuffs, even!
But now we don’t have to worry about that! We can get back to all the nonsense that football season entails. Preview, reviews, Revues, and watching Eli-Drinkwitz-coached one-score games. Isn’t that great?
Just like last year, we’d love for you to join us over at
Rock M+, where we’ll be loading up the site and forums with all sorts of extra content that you might miss over here at the main hub. Plus, we’ll be able to chat about on-going storylines, recruiting and all sorts of stuff that comes across our wires during the season. We know you like the content here on the main hub. Why not get a little extra for a few bucks?
See on the front page!

No matter what you think, or I think, the expectations outside are modest at best. The odds are long. But there is a lot of quality talent, if they’re able to settle the offensive line and the QB position, Missouri has a real shot to do something they’ve never done before. That’s win 10 straight three straight years.
Falling short of that won’t be a disappointment. But if anything, the positive buzz around the program has proven that Drinkwitz has done at least one thing, and that’s change the expectations and excitement within the fan base.
Will Drinkwitz be a victim of his own success? Find out this week on… MIZZOU FOOTBALL!
Mizzou’s non-conference has finally come together, and the lineup is highlighted by a majority of mid-majors, a pair of top 25 teams and almost no home matches for the Hearnes faithful. (editor’s note: this displeases me.)
No home matches seems… short-sighted from a program looking to attract more fans? But, hey, I’m not the coach.
Phillips and the defense tightened up after allowing the early goal, ending the first half down 1-0. The Tigers had six fewer shots than the Billikens at the half, with only two attempts.
Whatever the halftime speech was, it worked to a degree. Mizzou came out with much better energy and applied pressure in the attacking third. Sophomore forward Mia Devrouax specifically made a difference with her combination of speed and physicality.
Mizzou sees another ranked opponent later this week in No. 24 Memphis.
- Over at Rock M+, we’re talking about the latest visit from a blue-chip hoops recruit, and how he fits on the roster in a very Matt Harris-esque breakdown.
