Alabama continues to fill in some of the lost depth in the wide receiver room:
Tyler Henderson, wide receiver from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston (Miss.), has flipped from Kennesaw State to Alabama. Henderson was named a first-team JuCo All-American after the 2025 season.
The Vicksburg, Mississippi, native had 67 receptions for 1, 299 yards and 12 touchdown receptions as a sophomore.
As a JUCO All-American hailing from MGCC, Henderson brings plenty of resume with him. Obviously,
you never know with JUCO guys, and they don’t seem to hit as often as they used to, but he’s got some really good production to his name. On top of that, he’s reportedly run a 4.38s forty yard dash. The guy is fast, and could wind up being a legitimate role player for the Tide in the future as a deep threat or a kick returner.
Speaking of wide receivers, the scary news for Alabama yesterday was that Lotzeir Brooks was in a car accident.
The general rumblings from the local beat reporters is that Brooks is ok.
Harry Lyles Jr.: Florida State at Alabama, Sept. 19. This pick is based partially on seeing how Alabama responds after losing this matchup last year and partially on the potential fallout from this result. A loss for either the Seminoles or the Crimson Tide will put their coach firmly on the hot seat, assuming both teams enter this game 2-0. I think both Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer and FSU’s Mike Norvell are really good coaches, but knowing college football fans, the heat will be on for the loser of this one and the margin for error will become pretty much zero.
I agree with this. How Alabama comes out against the Noles will be put into context with last year, and I think it’s going to tell us a lot about this team very early on. I think the Tide needs will need to dominate this game for Alabama fans (and me) to feel any sort of confidence about the season, and, honestly, the direction of the program as a whole.
As we move into the heart of the offseason, the NFL is getting ready to start the combine in a few weeks, and Alabama got 12 players invited:
- QB Ty Simpson
- RB Jam Miller
- WR Germie Bernard
- TE Josh Cuevas
- C Parker Brailsford
- OT Kadyn Proctor
- OG Jaeden Roberts
- DL Tim Keenan III
- DL LT Overton
- LB Justin Jefferson
- LB Deontae Lawson
- CB Domani Jackson
It’s an interesting group. There’s a real possibility that the Tide doesn’t have a first round draft pick for the first time since 2008. I think they most likely still will, with Kadyn Proctor having a good shot and a lack of functional QBs pushing Ty Simpson’s stock up.
I think Justin Jefferson is a guy that could really help his stock at the combine with a good speed showing.
Moving to other sports, the Alabama basketball team has mostly felt a bit disappointing to fans thus far in the season. They’ve been good, but have had plenty of struggles this season. Despite that, CBS has Alabama as a 4-seed and a lock to make the NCAA tournament.
Sunday morning, Bracketology from CBS Sports had 11 SEC teams in the Big Dance field. The most shaky spot in 11-seed Missouri tabbed for a play-in game. Other iffy positions are Texas A&M as an 11-seed and Georgia as a 10-seed.
Safe (for now) are Auburn as an 8-seed and Texas as a 9-seed. The SEC’s 99.9% locks are Florida (currently a 3-seed), Alabama and Vanderbilt as 4-seeds, Arkansas a 5-seed, along with Tennessee and Kentucky as 6-seeds. ESPN agrees with those six SEC teams being ‘lock’ projections.
Just a few years ago, that would have felt like an all-time great season for Alabama fans. Now, we’re frustrated that they aren’t as dominant as we expected. Never take those expectations for granted, and Roll Oats!
