The Mac is back on July 11th, and he’ll be sticking around for more fights after that, according to his manager.
Conor McGregor is set to fight Max Holloway at UFC 329 as the culmination of International Fight Week in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to McGregor’s longtime manager Audie Attar, the timing has finally worked out for “The Notorious” to return to the cage, and that return to the cage will involve more than just one fight and then more years off.
In a new interview with MMA Junkie, Attar laid
out McGregor’s plan to fight multiple times in quick succession.
“I could tell you he’s looking to stay active,” Attar said. “I could tell you that we had planned for a ‘season’ during the COVID period, and that never got going, unfortunately. So this is the new season, and he’s definitely looking to stay active. We’re definitely looking forward to to not only this fight, Max Holloway, July 11, and then that next fight, and we’re not gonna wait a year, that’s for sure.”
That’s very interesting news considering McGregor only has two fights left on his UFC contract. Attar refused to speculate on where the Irish sports star might go following that but Conor has said he’d like to bare knuckle box and clean out all the top influencers from the Paul brothers to KSI.
“And then we’ll see. We’ll see kinda what happens from there,” Attar said. “I don’t think we’re looking too far ahead of things. We’re just taking it one step at a time, as we should because Max Holloway is a formidable opponent, and we gotta go and handle business come July 11.”
Attar revealed that McGregor had wanted to keep Michael Chandler as his opponent, but was willing to fight Holloway instead despite the obvious challenge it presents.
“I think it’s a tough match-up,” Attar said. “I think when you’re out as long as Conor’s been out for, you’re taking on a formidable opponent, same age, same experience, but one guy has been very active. But I’m also confident in the preparation Conor’s putting in. I’m confident in where his head and his heart is, and I’m confident that come fight night, the fans are gonna be very happy with that fight.”
McGregor still has to make it to UFC 329 healthy, a task he failed to do when he was set to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 back in 2024. A broken pinky toe derailed that one … an unusually mild injury to stop McGregor, who has fought on a blown out knee in the past. We’ll see if “The Notorious” can stay healthy enough to make it to July 11th and then turn around in 2026.
That would be impressive to witness — the last time McGregor fought twice in twelve months was 2021 for his two-fight series against Dustin Poirier. Prior to that, it was 2016 for his two fights against Nate Diaz.
