Former Washington Mystics franchise players Elena Delle Donne and Chamique Holdsclaw were inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame yesterday. It was also a big day considering the fact that the Mystics’ two biggest superstars were inducted on the same day.
Delle Donne was presented by former Mystics assistant coach (during Delle Donne’s time) Marianne Stanley and longtime Chicago Sky star Sylvia Fowles.
Delle Donne won two WNBA Most Valuable Player Awards: first in 2015 for the Chicago Sky
and 2019 for the Mystics. She was also an instrumental part for the Mystics’ championship in 2019.

Holdsclaw was presented by Tina Thompson, Tamika Catchings and Teresa Weatherspoon. Holdsclaw was the Mystics’ first franchise player since she was drafted No. 1 overall in 1999. She played for Washington from 1999-2004 and was part of the Mystics’ first team that made the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002. You can watch her speech below.
