In this week’s CSC poll, we asked our readers which defensive back would be seen as the New Orleans Saints best come season’s end?
We had a two-horse race after 160 votes, with cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry just beating out safety Jonas Sanker with 41.3% of the vote.
McKinstry will be the Saints top corner this year, so all eyes will be on him to lock down receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Drake London, and Tetairoa McMillan
among others on the Saints schedule. McKinstry is going into his third season after being drafted in the second round out of Alabama, and will look to build upon a solid second year that saw him grab his first three career interceptions. McKinstry has been thrust into a larger role each year as the Saints traded Marshon Lattimore during McKinstry’s rookie year and lost Alontae Taylor this offseason. He does get beat every now and then but has the talent and athleticism to become a solid CB1 this year if all goes well.
Jonas Sanker had a great rookie year as a 3rd rounder out of Virginia. He picked off two passes and recorded 80 total tackles while playing all 17 games. He should continue to get better, but the safety position is much deeper than corner meaning he may not stand out as much as someone like McKinstry who is the undisputed CB1.
Do you agree with this week’s results, or do you think Sanker or another defensive back will emerge as the Saints best DB in 2026?
