Good news, baseball fans! We can now start planning for spring.
Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues will open on Friday, February 20, 2026, with all clubs expected to play on Saturday.
Rockies spring training specifics
The Colorado Rockies will kick off their season on Friday, February 20, in their traditional opening game with their Salt River Fields roommates, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Rockies will play 33 games in total, including one against the United States’ WBC team on Wednesday, March 4. Their spring training season will conclude
on March 24.
Worth noting, the Detroit Tigers will travel to Scottsdale, Arizona to play two games against the Rockies at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on March 23-24 before the Rockies travel to Miami to kick off their 2026 season against the Marlins.

World Baseball Classic
In addition, fans will have the World Baseball Classic to look forward to.
Prior to the start of the WBC, however, the 2026 Spring Training schedule includes 28 exhibition games that feature Major League Clubs competing with World Baseball Classic National Teams.
MLB teams will play 14 exhibition games with World Baseball Classic teams on March 3-4.
The North American start to the 2026 World Baseball Classic will be on Friday, March 6 in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Houston, Texas; and Miami, Florida.
Spring Breakout
Spring Breakout, which features the top prospects in MLB playing against other teams, will take place on March 19-22. This will be the third iteration of Spring Breakout.
There will be five games with the Rockies prospects facing the D-backs prospects on Saturday, March 21.
