With Jürgen Klopp set to announce his second-ever Germany squad on November 5th, news is starting to circulate about who will make the cut. Klopp is not expected to call up as large of a squad this time around, meaning that many top talents could be excluded. According to reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, it looks like Paris Brunner might be on that list of exclusions.
While Brunner has not been nominated to the senior team before, this move might leave a bitter taste in the mouths of
those who prioritize the performance principle over anything else. You would have a hard time finding another attacker outside of Niclas Füllkrug who is in finer form at the moment.
Brunner has accumulated six goals and one assist in just nine appearances with AS Monaco this season. However, one counterpoint would be to test out the other wealth of options at striker right now and allow Brunner to continue excelling with the U-21 squad. Perhaps that is the better option given the new inclusion of Füllkrug in Klopp’s squad.
Is excluding Brunner the right move for now? Let us know in the comments!
