The Wisconsin Badgers got a commitment from Tennessee Volunteers transfer edge Jayden Loftin on Saturday, marking their second addition at the position in the transfer portal.
Loftin, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025, had Wisconsin in his final group coming out of high school last year, and Wisconsin got an official visit from the New Jersey native before they landed four-star Nicolas Clayton.
The freshman played in just one game this past season, so he’ll have four years of eligibility left
at Wisconsin. He joins Arkansas senior Justus Boone as the two transfer edge rushers for the Badgers so far. Both players are very different in stature, as Loftin stands 6’4, 255 pounds, while Boone stands at 6’5, 290 pounds with the versatility to play inside.
Wisconsin had quite a few really good evaluations in the 2025 class at edge rusher. They initially landed commitments from high-upside three-star Samuel Lateju and three-star Brendan Anes, getting involved with some early evals to beat out good competition.
Then, heading into the summer, they had one spot left between three really talented four-star recruits: Clayton, Loftin, and four-star Jayden Woods, who each had some top competition elsewhere. Clayton ultimately committed first, taking that third spot in the summer.
Woods was a really talented freshman for the Florida Gators, totaling 17 pressures and four sacks as a true freshman, while having a 20 percent pass-rush win rate in true pass sets according to PFF.
Wisconsin did ultimately lose Anes to a flip to Tennessee and flipped four-star Michigan commit Jaylen Williams as a result. Now, they’re getting one of those 2025 targets back with Loftin now committed to Wisconsin in the transfer portal.
Wisconsin isn’t done yet in the transfer portal, but they’ve done a good job of adding some young talent across the board. Now, it’s time to see some development and hopefully some production this season.
