The New England Patriots headed out to practice without four members of the active roster on Thursday, including Christian Gonzalez.
Due to a shoulder injury, the extended All-Pro cornerback remained sidelined for a second straight session along with offensive tackle Morgan Moses and defensive tackle Christian Barmore. Fullback Reggie Gilliam also joined the list of non-participants in Foxborough as his former team awaits at Highmark Stadium.
Here’s the second injury report ahead of Sunday’s 1 p.m.
ET kickoff against the unbeaten Buffalo Bills.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- FB Reggie Gilliam (knee)
- OT Morgan Moses (foot)
- DT Christian Barmore (shoulder)
- CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder)
Bills
- CB Christian Benford (toe)
- S Sam Franklin Jr. (not injury related — personal)
In the first quarter of last Sunday’s 35-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Gonzalez had his shoulder checked out on the sideline after a physical stop on third down got the defense off the field. The premier cornerback went on to play 52 out of 59 defensive snaps and the Patriots did not announce an injury designation. But back-to-back absences have followed because of the ailing shoulder. No. 0 closed out September having had a hand in eight tackles and five passes defensed for the secondary.
Three absences became four with New England’s fullback missing from practice because of a knee injury. But veterans from the offensive and defensive lines have also been out since the trip to EverBank Stadium. The 35-year-old Moses, who had been limited by a foot injury last week, did not go unaffected by it and was eventually pulled in the third quarter with 41 offensive snaps to play at right tackle. But Barmore, who has logged one sack, one forced fumble and one start in 2026, reentered the rout despite being called questionable to return with a shoulder issue.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- TE Eli Raridon (thigh)
- LB Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder)
- LB Christian Elliss (chest)
- CB Channing Canada (hamstring)
- S Craig Woodson (shoulder)
- S Brenden Schooler (back — NFI return)
Bills
- WR D.J. Moore (shoulder)
- WR Keon Coleman (ankle)
- DT T.J. Sanders (illness)
- LB Joe Andreessen (knee)
- S Damar Hamlin (ribs)
The Patriots added Canada to the list of six limited on Thursday because of a hamstring injury. The undrafted rookie corner made the initial 53-man roster out of training camp and has handled 42.8 percent of the workload on special teams.
At tight end and safety, Raridon and Woodson continue to work their way back as partial participants for New England. Both had been listed as questionable before landing among the inactives 90 minutes prior to kickoff last weekend. But a March arrival off the edges had been ruled out ahead of the trip to Jacksonville after sustaining a shoulder injury while attempting to recover a fumble in the home opener at Gillette Stadium.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- QB Drake Maye (right shoulder)
Bills
- RB Ray Davis (hamstring)
- G Ar’maj Reed-Adams (elbow)
- DT Deone Walker (quad)
- LB Bradley Chubb (thumb)
- LB Terrel Bernard (knee)
- LB Dorian Williams (hip)
Maye has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 585 yards through New England’s 1-2 start. The quarterback finds himself with one touchdown and seven turnovers. And heading into the AFC East meeting, he finds himself on the official injury report for the first time this fall. The injury to Maye’s throwing shoulder did not keep the 24-year-old captain from being a full participant on Wednesday. Nor did it on Thursday. Josh McDaniels added context prior to the session.
“Again, he’s always been a guy that can run and do things with his legs and all that,” the Patriots offensive coordinator told reporters. “He’s taken a few hits since he’s been in the National Football League. That’s kind of part of the process when you can make things happen with your legs. You’re going to incur some hits. They would obviously tell me obviously if there was something that we felt like we couldn’t do or he couldn’t do. That has not been the case. I know he’s a tough kid. I know that for sure. Doesn’t make a big deal out of much, so business as usual for us.”
