FSU women’s basketball fell to Stanford 77-61 on Sunday:
Junior guard Sole Williams led all scorers with 17 points, going 7-of-16 from the field including two three-pointers. Graduate guard Jasmine Shavers followed with 14 points with a pair of threes herself, while senior guard Sydney Bowles rounded out the double digit scoring with 10 points, including an impressive 8-of-9 mark from the free-throw line, tying her career best for free throws made.
Florida State was excellent from the free-throw line, shooting 89 percent on a 17-of-19 mark as a team.
The Seminoles forced 17 turnovers from the Cardinal, including 10 steals. Seven different players recorded at least one steal, with Shavers earning three while junior guard Emma Risch taking two.
Following Senior Day celebrations, it was only fitting that senior guard Amaya Bonner opened scoring for the home side with a layup followed by a three-pointer from Shavers. The duo would account for 10 of the 14 total first quarter points. A hard fought basket in the paint from junior center Pania Davis plus a pair of the free throws from Bowles wrapped up scoring in the first frame, FSU trailing Stanford 23-14.
Two more free throws fell for Bowles to begin the second quarter, followed by Williams getting herself on the board with a layup. The defense got to work to force six turnovers from the Cardinal in the frame alone. Stanford managed to reestablish themselves in the final few minutes, and a layup from Shavers and second-chance tip-in from junior forward Avery Treadwell would close out the first half offense. Florida State went to the locker room with a 41-22 deficit.
Bonner led the first half scoring with seven points, followed by Shavers with five. Bowles posted a perfect 4-of-4 mark from the free-throw line. Florida State recorded four steals as a team, Shavers with a pair while graduate guard Allie Kubek and Risch recorded one each.
A stronger defensive effort from the Seminoles stunned the Cardinal out of halftime after an opening free throw and three, Stanford went without a bucket for over three minutes. Florida State took advantage of the downtime, going on an 8-0 run halfway through powered by Greene and Williams that lasted over two minutes. Williams and Davis provided crucial points in the paint while Shavers added her second triple of the contest at the 3-minute mark.
While Stanford struggled to find the hoop, another scoring run would come for the Seminoles in the final two minutes. Bowles added her fifth make from the foul stripe while Williams continued to cut into the deficit, posting a layup and a three just 20 seconds apart to break into double digits. Energy was high as the Seminoles worked the Stanford lead down to just 11 points, trailing 54-43 at the end of the third quarter.
Bowles continued to pressure in the fourth, sinking a mid-range jumper and adding three more makes from the free-throw line after drawing a shooting foul on the perimeter. Defense continued to push, earning four more steals and causing six more turnovers from the Cardinal. Greene, Davis and Shavers all converted on visits to the stripe in the final frame, helping bring Stanford’s lead into just single digits with just under five minutes to go. However, Stanford would respond to keep their lead alive as FSU fell 77-61.
Florida State will hit the road to face No. 9 Duke on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. Tip-off will air at 8 p.m. on the ACC Network (ACCN).

Florida State beach volleyball opened the 2026 season this weekend, going 6-0 with wins over UAB, Cal State Bakersfield, Georgia State, North Alabama and SELU:
The Noles have opened their season 6-0 with complete dual wins, bringing them one step closer to breaking their record streak currently sitting at 8-0. This record was set during the programs inaugural season in 2012, including sweeps against UAB, Tulane, and FGCU.
The Seminoles recorded 10 set wins against UAB, needing only two three-set duals to complete the sweep. Kyleene Filimaua and Kenzie Hultquist made quick work on court five, securing their two-set victory at 21-10 and 21-12.
FSU continued to dominate in their second match, with each court finishing in only two sets. In set one, Jordan Boulware and Audrey Rothman managed to keep the Roadrunners court one to only seven points (21-7) before closing set two and the dual at 21-11.
In the Noles final match of the day, it was a nail-biter set two on court two with new addition Saofe Duval and sophomore Gella Andrew. After taking set one 21-18, FSU fell back four points to the Panthers. Thanks to a major scoop and swing from Duval, set two ended 21-19 Florida State.
FSU took on UNA in their first match of Saturday, mixing some pairs on the lower courts. Court five featured last year’s All-American freshman Bailey Higgins alongside seasoned veteran Maddie Trusty. They finished sets one and two quickly, ending the first at 21-14 and the second at 21-13.
It was Jess Horwath and Myriah Massey who earned the first of five dual points against North Alabama, with Massey digging multiple hard swings from the Lions to keep the rally going. Set one ended 21-18. They commanded a strong five point plus lead for most of set two, closing the battle 21-12.
To finish day two of the tournament, the Seminoles faced SELU with almost entirely new pairings. Freshman Julia Tennoy and Jordan Boulware took court one and secured Tennoy’s first win with Florida State. Southeastern Louisiana kept it close on court five, where Higgins and freshman Elena Lam had to put together multiple side court shots to finally close a forced set three 15-7.
16 Florida State athletes walked away from the tournament with a win under their belt, demonstrating a roster depth that head coach Brooke Niles has been shaping for years. Six players also earned their first dual victory as Seminoles, including Saofe Duval, Camryn Haworth, Jess Horwath, Elena Lam, Lennox Langham, and Julia Tennoy.
In their final match, FSU earned four of five dual points in only two sets. On court four, Haworth and Kyleene Filimaua battled into a set three after falling 20-22 to SELU in set two. Thanks to some nice digs from Haworth and a late set spike from Filimaua, set three ended 15-10 Florida State.
The Noles return home next weekend to take on ranked opponents No. 17 North Florida and No. 15 FAU, before playing UNC Wilmington in the Seminole Beach Bash. Fridays matches will honor Seminole Heritage, with Saturday featuring Kids Club activities and more. Live stats can be found on VolleyballLife.com.

The Seminoles did not back down in the second half. 55 seconds into the start of the third quarter Brynn Perkins found space and scored the third Seminole goal of the evening. Army responded with one of their two third quarter goals for a 12-3 advantage. Kenny drew another free position shot foul and capitalized for her second goal of the game. One minute later, senior attacker Lola Mancuso would find her way into the net, scoring on another free position attempt for FSU. Army held a 13-5 lead heading into the final quarter of play.

Minutes later Kenny would complete the hat trick with 4:04 left to play in the fourth quarter, scoring her third free position shot attempt of the game.
Florida State outscored Army 5-2 in the second half and held the Black Knights scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Kenny’s hat trick marks her third multi-goal game of the season and upped her goal total to 10 tying Mancuso for the Seminole lead.
Mancuso extended her point streak to 20 games with her 10th goal of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Ward spent 44 minutes in the net for Florida State, totaling a career-high in saves with four.
