Newcastle United have been linked with Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as uncertainty reached the Reds’ world following manager Arne Slot’s exit after the end of the 2025-26 season.
Jones is coming off a difficult campaign at Anfield, starting only 18 Premier League games and often being used away from his preferred midfield role.
While the upcoming managerial change could alter his role, Football Insider reported that the midfielder may still look for a fresh start elsewhere as soon as this summer.
“Curtis Jones is likely ready to push for a Liverpool exit this summer, and Newcastle United could be the main beneficiaries,” Football Insider reported.
Newcastle, for one, are expected to at least look at Curtis among their options to bring in midfield reinforcements, with Sandro Tonali’s future still uncertain and Joe Willock also facing questions over his long-term role with the Magpies.
“Back at St James’ Park, there is absolutely no certainty that Eddie Howe will go into next season with Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali as his midfield trio,” the report says.
Jones’ technical profile and Premier League experience could make him an appealing option for Howe, particularly if Newcastle lose one of their established midfielders.
“It makes perfect sense to go after Jones’ signature, who has seen his career stagnate and suffer at Anfield,” the report says.
The 25-year-old scored one goal and assisted on two more while creating 21 chances in the Premier League last season.
Newcastle are not expected to have a free run if Jones becomes available, mind you, with Aston Villa also being credited with interest in the disgruntled Reds player.
