The Sweet Sixteen round of the Best Things Ever Tournament at Blazer’s Edge rounds the halfway mark today. By the end of tomorrow we’ll know our Elite Eight participants. Before then, we have two days of voting to engage in.
For those who haven’t kept up, we started with 64 pretty cool items from everyday life sorted into a March Madness bracket. Each day we offer two articles, each with a choice between two of those things. You vote for which one you think is best by any criteria you choose. The
winner advances, the loser goes home.
There has been NO Cinderella in this tournament more surprising than the Hubble Telescope. It took out Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang in Round 1 before vanquishing Lego in a surprising upset in Round 2. Our readers’ passion for astronomy and deep-space photography has turned the Hubble into the St. Whatsitsname team of this tournament, a double-digit seed advancing into the late round with pluck and verve. Personally, I thought Lego would be here.
But today poor Hubble meets up with one of the tournament heavyweights, a strong #1 seed. That would be Spouses. They’re the people who stick with you through thick and thin (at least in theory) and care about you more than you dreamed. One might be looking over your shoulder right now, in fact!
Neither participant needs an extended introduction at this point. Unless something changes radically (like the spouse people thinking it’s a cakewalk and forgetting to vote) this one is probably in the bag. Hubble has likely met its ceiling. But let’s open it up and see! Will you vote for the Hubble Telescope or Spouses to continue onward in the Best Things Ever Tournament? Share your vote and reasoning in the comments section below and be sure to check out today’s other poll too, along with all the recent ones down the page!
