The Mariners destroyed the Blue Jays last night 10-3 and those lovable underdog Dodgers managed to hang on to beat the mighty Brewers 2-1.
As you can see, I am so over the media people claiming that the Dodgers struggling through the middle of this year is proof that they weren’t some kind of super team and that money isn’t a huge problem in this game. The Sports Business Journal reports that the outcome of the NLCS could shape baseball’s upcoming labor talks. I suppose I should be rooting for the Dodgers to
sweep so everyone will take the need for more revenue sharing more seriously, but I don’t care. I’m rooting for Milwaukee. Game two is tonight at 8:08PM ET, while the Blue Jays and Mariners travel to Seattle, Toronto down 0-2.
Latin American “Twitter newsbreaker” Hector Gomez – who egregiously and erroneously reported that the Guardians have additional pitchers aside from Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz who would be revealed to be involved in gambling “in the coming days” over 75 days ago and doubled-down on it when I challenged him about it in September – reported on Twitter that the evidence against Emmanuel Clase is “irrefutable” and he won’t play in MLB again. So, that likely means absolutely nothing. However, Clase and Ortiz were removed from Dominican Winter League rosters by LIDOM officials. Who knows what that all means, but MLB needs to give the Guardians resolution on this immediately after the World Series. They can’t expect the Guardians to function in the offseason with two ghost players on their roster.
Perhaps the Arizona Fall League games will be able to resume tonight after weather issues last week. Guardians prospects will play at 8:30PM ET for the Surprise Saguaros.
People will accuse me of being political, but I don’t view the following as a political issue: We’ve hit the first of climate tipping points with the widespread death of coral reefs. If we want to have baseball for another five generations, we better start to take that seriously and demand our leaders do the same.
