What is the story about?
The “32 in 32” series has begun at the Official NHL site, so it must be August and we must be inching forward in the offseason. With a shorter preseason and training camp — but 84 games now…yay?! — the summer will have an even longer slow window.

- The Islanders have poached a new assistant GM/head of their AHL affiliate, grabbing Gold from the Bruins organization. Chris Lamoriello remains in the front office but is no longer GM of the AHL team. [Isles | Newsday | Post]

Islanders grade: D. While there’s plenty to like about this roster construction, it’s hard not
to look at this quiet summer and feel like it’s a missed opportunity — especially while Schaefer remains on his rookie deal.
