Matt Sydal is back in AEW.
Sydal made his return on Collision (June 20, 2026) in a backstage scene with Christopher Daniels and the Sky Flight Team.
Sydal last wrestled in AEW on May 22, 2024. In June of that year, he decided to have surgery to fix a longstanding foot injury. Three bones had to be broken and refused as well as adding
hardware for the toe joints.
Sydal wrestled a handful of times last year on the indies. Rumors were bouncing that he would return to AEW soon, and now that has happened. The question is when will he return to the ring. Whenever that occurs, it looks like his first opponent is lining up.
Ricochet is also curious about Sydal’s return to the ring, and he offered his services to allow Sydal screen time for a match. Ricochet wrestled Sydal several times over the years, however, never once in AEW. Sydal won their first singles clash in 2006, and Ricochet owns the bragging rights of winning their last singles match in 2017.
In the meantime, Ricochet is coming for the AEW International Championship against Takeshita set for June 24 on Dynamite.
