Andrew finally caught Import, who has stumbled the last 2 weeks. Nobody did spectacularly well, but Cole, Tom, Andrew, and you NERDS all were 5-3. I was on the opposite side of that coin at 3-5. Import was a disappointing
2-6. Christian was an abysmal 1-7. Overall, the staff went 21-27. Overall, we are still on the good side at 438-408.
The real problem from the conference championships was Duke beating Virginia outright. The ACC agrees with how bad that result was for the conference, including a falling out with partial member Notre Dame. The minority were also right with Troy covering as 23.5-point underdogs against JMU, Army only losing by 1 to Navy, Georgia bludgeoning Alabama, and Indiana beating Ohio State as an underdog.
There is a lot on tap for bowl season with 6 schools in traditional bowls and 5 more schools in the CFP. Georgia has a bye. Alabama and Oklahoma square off in Norman. Texas A&M will host Miami, and Ole Miss will host former SEC team Tulane. The only unanimous pick was the Commodores because we might be a bit biased. We do have a concerning amount of agreement with 4 of the 10 other games only having 1 dissenter. Another trio of games have a majority. The last 2 games are split evenly.
Also, it is my fault there was no Commentariat ballot. I did not send the pick list out to the staff until yesterday and never sent it to parlagi to even make a ballot for y’all. Mea culpa.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from FanDuel, who SB Nation has partnered with this season, some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I may also use a backup for FBS-FCS matchups if the line is available elsewhere when I get the spreads.
