Germany and Finland are set to play another match on Monday — this one behind closed doors — before they fly to the United States on Tuesday. This exhibition match will feature the unused substitutes from Sunday’s match — some of whom will likely get plenty of playing time in the World Cup — so that they can get some match rhythm before traveling.
Germany’s Bundestrainer, Julian Nagelsmann, had this to say about the match, “Some haven’t played for two weeks. That’s why we’re very happy that Finland
have agreed to participate.” (as recorded by @iMiaSanMia)
The substitutes that did not see time in Sunday’s match against Finland include Alexander Nübel, Antonio Rüdiger, David Raum, Malick Thiaw, Waldemar Anton, Angelo Stiller, Leon Goretzka, Pascal Groß, and Jamie Lewelig. Bayern’s Jonas Urbig was also on the bench today. Although he is not on the World Cup squad, he is travelling with the team and will continue to train with them throughout the World Cup.
