During a new episode of The Smooth Vega podcast, AEW star Brian Cage admitted to using steroids and PEDs.
He thinks it has become a big taboo topic because a lot of people aren’t properly educated about these substances and how they work.
“I don’t care. I want to be more and more open about this…Do steroids work? Absolutely. Have I taken PEDs? Absolutely. I’ve never said that I haven’t. People try to judge me. I feel like, too, that’s a thing. People try to call you out as if you’re keeping a secret.
Are PEDs what got me to where I am? Absolutely not.”
Cage said he’s worked his ass off to get to where he is with his body and in pro wrestling, and that taking steroids, PEDs, TRT, HGH, or peptides doesn’t magically turn you into a super skilled elite athlete like Michael Jordan.
He goes on to claim that more people “take stuff” like this than don’t in pro wrestling and beyond.
“The amount of people that take stuff is wild…I’ll just say this. There’s a lot more people, not just in wrestling, but everywhere, that take stuff, than don’t take stuff. That’s for sure. But just because I look better than everybody else, everybody thinks that I take so much, or I’m the only one that does take stuff.”
The Machine clarifies that he’s a pro wrestler first who happens to also be a bodybuilder, rather than the other way around, which resulted in a lot of pro wrestlers back in the day who weren’t very good in the ring, like the Ultimate Warrior.
Cage talks for over 15 minutes on this topic starting at around the 49 minute mark, so check out his full thoughts if you want a deeper look into his argument for why it’s okay to use (but not abuse) steroids, PEDs, and the like.
