Chelsea are facing a bit of an injury crisis ahead of this weekend’s trip to Anfield, with both Robert Sánchez and Jesse Derry ruled out after suffering head injuries in Monday’s 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest. Teenager Derry was starting because Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho were dealing with knocks, and apparently they won’t be ready to play this weekend either. Just wonderful.
“Neto and Garnacho are carrying knocks, so it’s looking unlikely that they’re going to be available. Rob is also
not going to be available after the injury that he sustained.”

McFarlane added that we have “a couple lads returning”, but he was probably referring to Reece James and Levi Colwill, who returned to full training recently. Colwill even featured for 45 minutes last time out, making his season debut and evidently coming through unscathed. But he’s not exactly a winger, of which we now have a grand total of zero in the squad with Jamie Gittens and Estêvão already ruled out.
