Hansi Flick was a happy man after seeing his Barcelona team continue their perfect start to the new La Liga season with a 5-0 thrashing of Valencia at Mestalla.
The Catalans giants put in another impressive showing, with Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez and Rodri all shining. Flick was happy to talk about all three after the game.
“Fermín we can already see the type of player he is. He brings energy, goals, is good with the ball, presses… I like more control sometimes, but he’s a young player. His intensity
is very high. He’s doing very well,” he told reporters.
“Everything Rodri has done makes sense. He is very good with the ball and without the ball. And I don’t forget that Bernal is doing a great job. If it continues like this, it will be a great opportunity to improve more and more. Rodri is an absolute leader, what he does on the pitch and off is incredible.”
Flick also spoke about why Yamal played the whole game despite missing training on Saturday due to a knock.
“This morning I spoke with Lamine, he told me he was fine. He’s always switched on with the pressure in the match, it’s good,” he explained.
“We have many players who can start. I have to manage the situations and try to keep everyone happy. I’m happy with Olmo and I feel like he wants more. We always try to make the best decisions for the team.”
Barcelona now switch focus to the Champions League and a midweek game against Feyenoord.
