The Dodgers roster for the 2025 World Series contains 12 pitchers and 14 position players, with right-handers Edgardo Henriquez and Will Klein added, and Alex Vesia and Ben Casparius off the roster from
the last round.
Vesia is away from the team with his wife Kayla, dealing with what a team statement on Thursday called “a deeply personal family matter.”
The Dodgers opted for more hard-throwing right-handers in the bullpen in adding Henriquez and Klein, with another right-hander in Casparius removed. Casparius was active in the NLCS but did not pitch against the Brewers.
Also notable on the Dodgers roster is Tanner Scott’s absence. The left-hander was removed from the Division Series roster after an abscess excision, and was ineligible to pitch during the NLCS. Scott insisted this week he was healthy and ready to pitch, even though the embattled closer has not pitched in any game since September 26.
Shohei Ohtani as a two-way player does not count against the limit of 13 active pitchers, though the Dodgers have not yet carried that many this postseason. They haven’t needed to thanks to an otherworldly performance by the starting rotation, including Ohtani, with a 1.40 ERA in 64 1/3 innings through 10 games.
Incredible starting pitching has allowed the Dodgers to consolidate their bullpen into a small handful of pitchers. Roki Sasaki, Vesia, and Blake Treinen have each pitched in seven of the Dodgers’ 10 games this postseason, with no other pitcher appearing more than three times. The other pitchers on the staff have combined for only 11 total appearances to date.
During the National League Championship Series, the Dodgers had 12 pitchers active and 14 position players, after carrying 11 pitchers and 15 position players on both the wild card round and Division Series rosters.
