The Colorado Rockies announced the hire of Ian Levin on Monday afternoon as an assistant general manager under Paul DePodesta and Josh Byrnes.
Levin spent nearly 20 years of his professional career with the New York Mets organization. He first joined the Mets in 2005 as a media relations intern and later a baseball operations intern. From there he served in a variety of roles including scouting, player development, and organizational strategies. Levin was named an assistant general manager in 2021
and left the Mets organization at the end of the 2024 season.
After leaving the Mets, Levin founded OneOne Sports, a company that helps collegiate programs with hiring leadership, infrastructure design, player evaluation and roster strategy.
With his hire, Levin is re-united with president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta. The two worked together with the Mets under Sandy Alderson from 2010-2015. Levin is the second former Mets executive to be hired by the Rockies’ new-look front office. He joins Tommy Tanous, who was hired as an assistant general manager last week.
“Ian brings a proven record of strategic leadership, key roster decision-making, and innovative player performance initiatives,” said DePodesta via press release. “With extensive experience across Major League operations, research and development, player development and amateur scouting, Ian will strengthen every part of our operation. We couldn’t be more excited to bring him to the Rockies.”
This is a developing story and Purple Row will provide updates as they become available.
