It’s time for Game 2 in the three-game series between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies. All I’m hoping for is that it goes better than the first game did. And hey, we’re getting an MLB debut this fine afternoon, as Turner Hill is starting in left field!
Taking the mound for the Giants is their ace, righty Logan Webb. The three-time All-Star has made 21 starts this season, and is 7-7 with a 3.59 ERA, a 3.27 FIP, and 103 strikeouts to 32 walks in 133 innings. Webb was excellent his last
time out, giving up just one run in eight innings against the Detroit Tigers.
For the Rockies, it’s veteran right-hander Michael Lorenzen. The 33-year old, who was an All-Star in 2023, has made 25 appearances in his first season with Colorado, and has gone 3-10 with a 6.83 ERA, a 5.09 FIP, and 81 strikeouts to 46 walks in 112 innings. He’s given up the most hits (164) and runs (85) in the Majors this year, so you can expect the Giants to be shut out. Lorenzen gave up four runs, two of which were earned, in 4.1 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals his last time out.
Enjoy the baseball, everyone!
