Bayern Munich are not expected to be particularly active in the January transfer window, with the club seemingly content with its current squad unless a specific opportunity presents itself.
According to reports from Sport Bild journalists Julian Agardi and Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), the Bavarians are not planning a major midseason recruitment drive. There are currently no plans to sign a new right-back or strengthen other positions, suggesting that the club would prefer to stick with its existing
options rather than make unnecessary additions.
However, there is one potential exception: finding a suitable backup for Luis Díaz.
The Colombian has become an important part of Vincent Kompany’s attacking setup, bringing pace, direct running, pressing intensity, and a willingness to take on defenders. Having another reliable option capable of providing cover on the left wing could give Bayern greater depth, particularly during the demanding second half of the season.
That does not mean Bayern will automatically enter the market for a winger, though. The club would only pursue a signing if the right opportunity became available, whether in terms of quality, suitability, or the overall deal. Otherwise, the expectation is that Bayern will not make any significant additions in January.
The lack of plans to sign a right-back is also notable. While additional competition in that position could be useful, Bayern apparently do not consider it a priority for the winter window.
For sporting director Max Eberl and the recruitment team, the approach appears straightforward: avoid spending for the sake of spending, and only act if a signing genuinely improves the squad.
Of course, transfer plans can change quickly if injuries or unexpected market opportunities emerge. For now, however, Bayern supporters should not expect a particularly busy January.
