What is the story about?
At this point Santa is loading his sleigh, preparing for the biggest delivery night of the year. And while changing your Wishlist for him at this late date will not be greeted with jolly good cheer, it’s not too late to tell A’s management what you want for the team this holiday season.
My list is simple, so I’ll start:
- A healthy 2026 campaign for everyone in kelly-green and gold. Surely, injuries are part of the game, but if we can minimize the time on the Injured List (IL) we’ll truly know what we have and how to best trade and use the free agent market to continue building the team. I also believe a healthy team will make a real climb in the standings next season.
- A top-notch closer. We had one for part of last year with Mason Miller. I understand the long-term value in trading him for some young talent, but that doesn’t mean we should settle for life without a legit closer.
- A consistent bat at third base, who is not a defensive liability. Some may ask for a player with some pop. I’m not against that, but I’ll settle for a consistent hitter that gets on base, can drive in some runs, and can stay healthy. If Max Muncy is that guy, then great. If moving Wilson to third with a solid replacement at short is the answer, I’m fine with that too.
Ok, A’s Nation, your turn. If you celebrate Christmas, have a very merry one. If you celebrate any other winter holiday, I send my best wishes to you for a happy and healthy holiday season.
