The Texas Rangers have placed Wyatt Langford on the 10 day injured list with a strained oblique, the team announced today. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have purchased the contract
of outfielder Billy McKinney. To make room for McKinney on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have transferred outfielder Sam Haggerty from the 10 day injured list to the 60 day injured list.
In addition, over the weekend, the Rangers activated Tyler Mahle from the 60 day injured list. To make room for him on the active and 40 man roster, the Rangers designated pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. for assignment. Edwards has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Round Rock.
Finally, the option on outfielder Dustin Harris has been rescinded, as Harris was apparently injured when the Rangers sought to send him down, and he has been instead placed on the 10 day injured list.
Langford missing the final five games is disappointing, of course. He ends the season with 134 games played, the same number he played in last year. He slashed .241/.344/.431, for a 126 OPS+, with 5.4 bWAR and 4.0 fWAR. That’s a pretty good season for a guy in his sophomore campaign.
