This weekend, LSU has another full slate of elite recruits headed to Baton Rouge for official visits.
Coming off a week loaded with elite-level prospects making their way to campus, LSU has yet to take a moment off. Following this past weekend, the Tigers hosted 4-star defensive tackle Mitchell Turner for a midweek official visit with the elite defensive tackle wrapping up his visit today.
The Tigers also hosted 4-star offensive lineman Terrance Smith on an unofficial visit during the week. Smith took
an official visit to LSU back in April and is expected to also visit Auburn and Tennessee before making a decision.
Turner, a Mississippi native, has been heavily linked to Alabama early in his recruitment. He arrived in Baton Rouge on Monday and wrapped up his visit on Thursday before heading to Ole Miss for an official visit this weekend.
These two midweek visits were only a glimpse of what’s to come.
The Tigers are set to host seven prospects this weekend, several of whom are currently committed to other programs. The hottest name to know from this group is 4-star edge rusher KJ Green.
Green, a Stone Mountain, Georgia native, has a strong relationship with LSU edge coach Sterling Lucas. Coach Lucas gave Green his first scholarship offer while Green was still in the eighth grade and Lucas was coaching at South Carolina.
There is a lot of buzz surrounding Green and the Tigers following the recent loss of edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, who flipped his commitment from LSU to the Miami Hurricanes. The feeling around Green is that LSU is emerging as the team to beat, with Oregon and Georgia also heavily involved in the race.
Next up is another offensive lineman, 4-star Kelsey Adams from Atlanta, Georgia. Adams is currently committed to Georgia and is ranked among the top 20 players in the nation. The fact that Adams is making a trip to Baton Rouge following a visit to Georgia speaks volumes about the level of interest he has in the Tigers.
LSU will also host a pair of running backs this weekend: Brennen Lacey and Tre Segarra.
Lacey is a 3-star running back who holds offers from LSU, Notre Dame, and TCU. Segarra is a 4-star running back from South Carolina and is ranked among the top 10 running backs in the nation.
There will also be a pair of defensive backs making visits.
Greedy James, a 4-star safety from Manvel, Texas, who is currently committed to the Texas Longhorns, will be in Baton Rouge this weekend. James is being recruited by Corey Raymond as a cornerback, and the feeling around his recruitment is that LSU is in a position to potentially flip his commitment from Texas.
Joining James will be 4-star athlete Tae Walden from Collierville, Tennessee. Walden is also being recruited by Corey Raymond as a cornerback. He has made multiple trips to Baton Rouge this offseason and remains uncommitted.
The final visitor, at the time of this writing, is Cade Cooper.
Cooper was a late addition to the visitor list. He is a 4-star wide receiver ranked among the top 25 players in the country. It is believed that Ole Miss currently holds the advantage in his recruitment, but LSU appears to be making a strong push to close the gap.
This is shaping up to be another busy and exciting weekend on the recruiting trail for the Tigers.
