The Syracuse Orange will be without their starting quarterback for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
Steve Angeli — who went down with a non-contact injury during Syracuse’s 34-21 win over Clemson on Saturday
— tore his Achilles, sources tell Pete Thamel of ESPN, who was the first to report.
Angeli, who transferred to the Orange in April from Notre Dame, was named the starting quarterback for the program in August. Through three games and change, he was 98/156 (62.8%) through the air with 1,316 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Thamel is reported that Angeli expects to be qualified for a medical redshirt for the rest of this year and have two years of eligibility left at the conclusion of 2025.
Rickie Collins, who transferred from LSU prior to Angeli’s arrival, filled in for the remainder of the Clemson game. He finished 3/8 in the air for 34 yards and a TD.
Going forward, Syracuse will have to adapt its own offense with the loss of Angeli.
