SV Wehen Wiesbaden knows it will not be easy facing Bayern Munich, but the squad thinks it can cause issues for the Bavarians as a collective. Wiesbaden striker and captain Fatih Kaya took a pragmatic view of the game.
“We’re sure that, after the experiences they had in the Pokal in the past few years, FC Bayern will take us very seriously. They’re very eager to win the cup. We have to be courageous and confident in what we’re doing. We can’t compete against Bayern with the individual quality of our players;
FC Bayern is among the world’s best. But we can hold our own if we deliver a perfect game as a team,” Kaya said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked if was going to pursue a jersey swap or souvenir from the match, Kaya might have let on to his target.
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. But if I had the choice and it were possible, I’d probably swap shirts with Harry Kane. As a striker, he’s been a very high standard for years,” Kaya noted.
We’ll see if he gets that opportunity on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich is traveling to…“somewhere near Frankfurt” per head coach Vincent Kompany to take on SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB-Pokal.
The Bavarians are riding high after taking down RB Leipzig 6-0 in the Bundesliga and will face the current 6th place team in 3. Liga. SV Wehen Wiesbaden is 1-1-1, featured a couple of ex-Bayern Munich academy products, and is not exactly a push over.
