Folks! Folks! Folks!
Happy college football!
Oh baby are we back! Week one kicked off on Thursday night with FOUR Big Ten games, including three former Big Ten West rivals having offensive struggles, we have a pair of Big Ten games on Friday night and YOUR IOWA HAWKEYES are poised to return to Kinnick under the nights on Saturday evening!
As exciting as it is to be staring down the barrel of just under 24 hours until we return to Kinnick Stadium, it’s perhaps even more exciting for this particular week
one as we take a look at the updated weather forecast for Saturday evening.
This week has seen unseasonably cool temperatures in Iowa City with temps in the low- to mid-70s most of the week. Evenings have been borderline cool at times. As we approach the weekend, things are heating back up a bit, but we are nowhere near the early season scorchers Hawkeye fans are accustomed to.
Instead, the updated forecast for Saturday in Iowa City is calling for temps dropping from the high-70s toward the mid-70s around kickoff and those perfect low-70s as the game progresses and the sun fades beyond the horizon behind the press box.
You may want to pack a poncho as the chances of precipitation appear to be steadily climbing in the evening progresses. What is expected to start as some intermittent cloud cover is looking like a 30-40% chance of sprouting some showers somewhere around halftime Saturday evening.
As for the game itself, this one opened with the Hawkeyes as 37.5-point favorites with an over/under at 48.5 total points according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That has since climbed to 38.5 points in favor of Iowa with the over/under up to 50.5 total points. Despite news on Thursday that the Hawkeyes would be without WR Reece Vander Zee, we’ve seen no meaningful line movement since mid-week.
