Barcelona kick off their La Liga title defense on Sunday away to Elche, and the question on everyone’s mind is who will lead the line for Hansi Flick’s side.
The Catalans’ infamous search for a number nine still hasn’t resulted in a high-profile signing, and Barça will have no choice but to go with their current attacking options for the opening match of the season.
Flick has plenty of possibilities in Anthony Gordon, Raphinha (both of whom played as strikers in preseason) and Karim Adeyemi, but 18-year-old
Hamza Abdelkarim has certainly made his case with four goals and several impressive performances in preseason.
The young striker is unproven at the top-flight level and is still expected to play for Barça Atlètic this season, but the unique circumstances of the first match with several key starters still out of rhythm and no recognized striker in the squad make it very plausible that Hamza could be given a huge chance by his coach.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Should Hamza Abdelkarim start against Elche in Barcelona’s La Liga opener?
