The Seahawks announced a couple of roster transactions ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The happy and expected news was Zach Charbonnet being activated from the PUP list. The bad news is Elijah Arroyo has been placed on injured reserve. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that Arroyo will have to undergo shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season
.Arroyo injured his shoulder last week against the Denver Broncos while attempting to recover Rashid
Shaheed’s fumble. Coming out of the Broncos game, it did not sound positive. In fact,an injured reserve stint was expected for Arroyo. That his season is already over is surely a big blow for the second-year tight end out of Miami.
Arroyo had an electric 2026 training camp, which brought a lot of optimism that Arroyo could have a big sophomore jump this season. Unfortunately this strong training camp did not continue into the regular season. Arroyo has seldom seen any targets this season and will finish his 2026 season with only one catch for 17 yards and 0 touchdowns.
Entering the draft, Arroyo was heralded for his pass catching ability. However, with questions around his blocking ability and injury history (including an ACL tear), Arroyo managed to slip to Seattle at 50th overall. Unfortunately, the injury concerns have continued for Arroyo into the NFL. Arroyo missed the back-end of the 2025 regular season after injuring his knee in Week 14.
As for the Seahawks, their tight end room is left with AJ Barner, Eric Saubert, and Nick Kallerup on the 53-man roster, with Josiah Deguara recently joining the practice squad. Saubert and Kallerup are known for their blocking rather than receiving abilities. Because of this, Seattle could potentially add a bigger pass catcher to the active roster.
