Early this morning, the Chicago Bears announced that they have re-signed offensive lineman Jordan McFadden.
McFadden originally joined the Bears off waivers in January of 2025 from the Los Angeles Chargers, where he was a fifth-round pick from Clemson in 2023. While in L.A., he appeared in 13 games with two starts.
He spent part of the 2025 season on Chicago’s practice squad, was elevated for a few games, and eventually signed to the 53-man roster, appearing in 7 regular-season games total. He got
in only 2 snaps on offense and 25 on special teams, but an injury on the Bears’ offensive line led to him starting the Divisional playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. With Joe Thuney kicking out to left tackle, McFadden filled in at left guard, and not only held his own, but he got frequent shoutouts from the broadcast.
“You will watch No. 74 there, just continue to make blocks,” NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth said of McFadden during the Rams game. “And so I am sure that a guy that only had three snaps in the last two years – you’re like, ‘Oh, we’re going to stay away from that, we’re not going to do that.’ But watch him play. He’s been making plays throughout the course of the night. On some of the biggest plays, he’s had key blocks. So credit to him. Really, an amazing decision by Ben Johnson to get him in there, and it’s paid off.”
At just 26 years old, McFadden will now get an opportunity to keep learning from Bears’ o-line coach Dan Roushar and try to secure a reserve spot at guard in Chicago.
