Manuel Locatelli going under the knife to repair his newfound meniscus issue was the headliner, but it unfortunately wasn’t the only injury news that Juventus had to deal with on Tuesday.
In the same announcement in which Juve said that Locatelli has had successful knee surgery (with no timetable for his return actually given), they said that winger Jérémie Boga will be re-evaluated in two weeks after suffering a “a medium-grade tear” in his hamstring during training on Monday. As much as Juve say
he will have his recovery time “more precisely defined” in a couple of weeks, it has been widely reported that Boga will miss at least a month due to the latest injury that this Juventus squad has seen take place during the first three weeks of the 2026-27 season.
Here’s the short update, courtesy of Juventus’ website:
This morning, Jérémie Boga underwent diagnostic tests at J|medical following a muscle problem in his left thigh that he suffered yesterday.
The tests revealed a medium-grade tear of the biceps femoris. In two weeks, the player will undergo further clinical and instrumental checks to more precisely define his recovery time.
The double shot on Tuesday means that Locatelli and Boga are now the eighth and ninth different players to go onto the list of Juventus players currently injured.
Boga was already looked at as an option for another player currently out with a long-term injury, Kenan Yildiz, who underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his foot last week. Yildiz is expected to be back following the November international break.
While Boga isn’t expected to be out that long, he is now another depth option that is suddenly not available for Luciano Spalletti to try and weather the storm on the left wing in Yildiz’s absence. The good is that if he does end up missing four or five weeks, the three-week September international break will hopefully ease some of that pain.
But now, barring any sort of major formation change by Spalletti, the left wing is fully there for Kerim Alajbegović to do as we all hope he can do. It is his — and there’s not a whole lot of options out there to turn to considering all the injuries that are currently taking place up and down this roster.
