The Dodgers starting lineup contains the same nine players in Game 2 of the NLCS against the Brewers as they did in Game 1, just in a slightly different order.
The Dodgers had plenty of scoring chances in Game 1, putting runners in scoring position in five of nine innings. They were only 1-for-10 in those situations, though one of the outs as a Max Muncy drive that hit off the center field
wall. In almost any other instance of that kind of a play, runs are scored, but the Dodgers somehow managed to make two outs on the play.
“I just f–ked up, it’s that simple,” Teoscar Hernández told reporters in Milwaukee on Tuesday, on him not scoring from third base on the play.
Hernández bats sixth on Tuesday after hitting third in Game 1, with Freddie Freeman and Will Smith each moving up one slot to third and fourth. Max Muncy batted seventh in Game 1 and hits fifth in Game 2. Tommy Edman goes from sixth on Monday to seventh on Tuesday.
Those scoring opportunities for Game 2 will have to first come against Freddy Peralta, facing the Dodgers for the third time this season. He pitched six scoreless innings in a win in Milwaukee on July 7, then gave up four runs in five innings in a no-decision on July 19 at Dodger Stadium.
Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run home run off Peralta in that Los Angeles start, part of a 2-for-6 effort against the right-hander this season. Ohtani also homered off Peralta in 2024, and is 3-for-12 against him in his career.
