George Pickens is planning on attending the Dallas Cowboys mandatory minicamp this week. We know this because Clarence Hill and DLLS Sports reported it bright and early on Monday morning.
Honestly the news is not too shocking. As Cowboys fans we have been conditioned to expect the worst on all matters concerning contract negotiations given events of recent years, but the reality of this
specific situation has been set for a couple of months now.
George Pickens already signed the franchise tag that the Cowboys placed on him. We can certainly quibble about the tag’s existence and whether or not it is fair and a lot of other things, but the reality of this is that it does exist and that Dallas used it and, again, that Pickens signed it.
This is why it was a bit strange that Pickens signed the tag when he did. From his perspective he almost had no incentive to do so as it eliminated any serious doubt about things like this minicamp. Without that tag signed he would technically not be under any contract. Obviously with it signed he is.
Whatever the case it is great to see that Pickens plans on reporting.
As you were.
