You may end up feeling a bit of déjà vu on Friday when Indiana heads up north to take on Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette.
The Hoosiers rather notoriously couldn’t decide between two quarterbacks,
Tayven Jackson and Brendan Sorsby, during Tom Allen’s final season as the program’s head coach in 2023. Both saw action in early games, occasionally the same games.
It won’t be entirely similar, but Purdue may have a bit of the same thing going on during the battle for the Old Oaken Bucket. Both Ryan Browne and Malachi Singleton took snaps for the Boilermakers in their last game at Washington, with the latter taking up most of the dropbacks going 16/28 for 150 yards and a single touchdown through the air.
Purdue offensive coordinator Josh Henson was asked about the plan at quarterback against Indiana during a press conference on Monday. He said that Browne will earn the start, but implied there could be another switch.
“We’ll feel the flow of the game, see how they’re playing,” Henson said. “We’ll start it the way we did and see how the game’s going.”
