Elche defender Victor Chust spoke to the media ahead of his team’s upcoming clash with Real Madrid. The former Madrid academy player spoke about preparations to face the club that shaped him.
Chust did
not shy away from the challenge, insisting that Elche enter the match with genuine belief:
“We are capable of beating Madrid, we believe we can. The group has a lot of confidence, and we are working very hard every day for it. I’m sure we’ll get a good result if we go out there and play our style of football and enjoy ourselves.”
Elche have shown clear signs of growth and stability this season, and Chust says the team’s progress is reflected in their mentality and connection with supporters.
“Above all, we need to be intense in every game. We have to keep doing what we’re doing; the fans are enjoying it. The team is feeling strong and very happy. We’re enjoying the process, and what better opponent than Real Madrid?”
Asked about the state of Real Madrid—who arrive after two disappointing results—Chust emphasized respect and awareness of the challenge:
“We expect a motivated Madrid. I know how demanding they are there, especially after two setbacks. Madrid will come to win, and we’re only thinking about playing a good match and getting the three points.”
For Chust, the fixture carries deeper meaning. Having risen through La Fábrica, he expressed gratitude toward his formative club while reaffirming his commitment to Elche:
“It’s a special game. I owe Real Madrid a lot. Thanks to Real Madrid, I am who I am. I owe everything to Elche, and I’m fully behind my team.”
Despite the emotional weight of the matchup, the defender insists the preparation remains calm and methodical.
“It’s more of a mental thing. The week is like any other. We always review their strengths on video, but this is football and may the best team win.”
