We’re finally here. The United States Men’s National Team will walk out onto the field tonight at SoFi Stadium to face Paraguay in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup. And they’re going to do it for the first time in 32 years as the co-hosts.
The USMNT have waited a long time to prepare for this moment. The World Cup cycle has felt longer than normal because of the lack of qualifying, the changes around the program, and what felt like an endless number of friendlies. But, the focus now is on this match
as the USMNT hope to start the World Cup in excellent form.
They go up against a tough Paraguay side, one they saw outside of Philadelphia last November. That match turned into a scuffle at the end of that match, and one can only expect Paraguay to bring the fight from the opening whistle to ruin the co-hosts’ day.
